Joanne Carmody Meierhofer grew up in Minnesota, lived there most of her life before moving to Northern Wisconsin in 2011. She moved with her husband Tom to be closer to their daughter and fell in love with the area. As an artist she had been painting the prairies of western Minnesota but could now get excited about a very different and beautiful landscape, the water, the woods, the rocky shorelines. She joined the local arts council almost immediately, met other pastel enthusiasts and serves as president of the Chequamegon Bay Arts Council (CBAC).
A life long artist she has painted in oil, watercolor and most recently in pastel. She has been participating in plein air events since 2013 both in Port Wing and Grand Marais. As a member of both the Outdoor Painters Of Minnesota and The Lake Country Pastel Society she has shown her artwork in many regional exhibits.
She has taken workshops from nationally recognized pastel artists including Richard McKinley, Collette Odye Smith, Richard McDaniel, Anita Louise West, Michael Chesley Smith and Steve Hill.
