Artist’s Statement
A lifelong love affair with fiber and embellishment has inspired me to experiment with a variety of techniques including weaving, silk painting, paper making, and beading. Further exploration with silk fusion and book making have led to the development of yet other forms of fiber art. Experimenting with watercolor painting under the direction of Nancy Lee at the Hoth-Lee Gallery took artistic expression to a new level. As seen in the following examples, much of that is inter-connected.
Biography
Karleen has taken watercolor workshops from John Salmenin, Tony Couch, and Karlyn Holman. Classes taken through the Duluth Art Institute, Minnesota School for the Book Arts, Seivers Fiber Arts School, Karlyn’s Gallery, and Jane Herrick have inspired her to continue searching for new ways to create, whatever the medium. Exhibits include a one-person show at the Duluth Art Institute, individual pieces at the Beaver Dam Art Institute and CBAC.
