Dragonfly Studio – Metal Sculpture
Influenced by my Cuban born heritage, inspired by the natural surroundings of the Chequamegon National Forest of Wisconsin, and enlightened by my association with the Lac Courte Oreilles band of Lake Superior Ojibwe, my artistry reflects the nature of humanity and humanity in nature.
Combining steel, rock and flame; my personal observations are incorporated into original metal sculpture designs for home interior, landscape and public settings.
Throughout my professional career, I have been sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, Wisconsin Arts Board, Outagamie Charitable Foundation, Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board, Chequamegon Bay Area Arts Council, Wisconsin Humanities Council, Experimental Aircraft Association Museum and supportive patrons. The greatest support has come from family, friends and community.
My public sculptures grace museums, libraries, hospitals, parks, municipal buildings, cemeteries, colleges, businesses, and an airport.
A few recent highlights of my life long artistic career include:
In 2008, I co-founded See My Art, Inc. (SMART), and serve as its President. SMART is a non-profit advocacy group whose vision is “Opening Doors and Minds through Art for those with Disabilities”. Learn about See My Art’s advocacy here: www.seemyart.us .
In 2012, I won an invitational competition to design and fabricate a centennial sculpture for The College of St. Scholastica’s new Science Building. Visit my web page here for more details on that stainless steel sculpture commission: http://www.sarabalbin.com/?p=625
In 2018, as part of their 125th anniversary celebration, I was added to the rolls of the University of Wisconsin-Superior outstanding alumni. To read more about this honor visit: https://www.uwsuper.edu/alumni/news/all-class-reunion/outstanding-alumni.cfm

I believe that each of my sculptures has an energy, a spirit of its very own that is brought to life with light, the seasons, and the interplay of all people.
My steel creations come in a range of sizes to compliment home, office or landscape display.
- Table top, free standing and larger landscape sculptures can be custom designed for your own application.
- Smaller table top sized creations can range between $40 and $100.
- Prices of the medium table top sized sculptures start $125.00 and up dependent on the scope of the design, scale of the sculpture, material cost and time to fabricate.
